American Hero Books: staying connected when the extraordinary becomes ordinary

Military children have a lot to contend with. Most of the books available for military kids and families talk about deployments, separation, frequent moves, and negative emotions. These are essential areas to address but developing resiliency through the challenges must start with an understanding of the job the military parent does and maintaining a connection to that parent through all obstacles. American Hero Books is the award winning series that helps children understand their parent's very important job and keeps families connected when the extraordinary becomes ordinary. Alia Reese is the author and creator of American Hero Books. She is the spouse of a US Marine and mother of 2 children. Alia has a Master's Degree in Psychology and spent many years working to help military families understand and access resources available to them. She used her knowledge and experience raising kids through multiple deployments to create the American Hero Books series.
