Recent Brain Research Revolutionizing the Role of Teachers and Parents

Brain research shows that there are strategies and techniques that enhance learning by simply appealing to the way the brain wants to learn…some of these strategies have been used for decades by those who identified with their effectiveness. Some strategies ask that we take a new and different look at age old assumptions and move forward or evolve into a more effective approach, a more “brain-responsive” approach. Today’s statistics regarding the achievement of our nation’s youth are illustrating a decline in graduation rates, a decline in literacy and an increase in dropout rates. The entire nation is aware of this and our elected representatives make their plans for the future. The problem however is now, the solution needs to start now! Parents, teachers, principals and business leaders nationwide need to engage with and initiate ‘brain responsive’ strategies and methods that will instantly lift and enhance their achievement and success. Consider again the youth of today; there is an unsettling trend towards learners being uninterested in their learning, disrespectful towards authority and taking little to no responsibility for their own achievement. Meanwhile, the same learners are quick to master a new application for their iPod, or a new computer, an up-graded phone or any number of gaming systems. Today’s Business Models are Changing as Fast as the Technology That Fuels Them... Unfortunately Our School Models Are Not Keeping Up
